Engraving from the Notre Dame de Paris collection, which shows some lovely detail of the amazing statues which adorned the roof of the cathedral Notre Dame de Paris. These gargoyles depict fantastic beasts.
Since these were on what was called "l'Aire de plomb" (the lead erie), which was the vast expanse of leaded roof supported by the huge beam forest which held the roof, I am not sure that they survived the fire but they can at least survive in your memory thanks to these beautiful drawings.
This print is a 1889 lithograph extracted from a damaged volume of a 1889 book entitled *Paris : 450 drawings*, printed by the Maison Quantin, illustrated by Auguste Vitu.
Frame it and hang it in your home to remember that beauty forever!
