THERE IS something fascinating about ancient cultures which have disappeared. This lovely Assyrian print reproduction captures that perfectly. The original page used to illustrate the "Assyria" article of a 1936 French dictionary. It presents typical pieces of Assyrian art and culture found in archeological digs in the Middel-East. Each one is labeled in French at the bottom of the page, together with the name of the museum where they are exhibited.

This poster was made by scanning an original 1936 print at very high resolution. The original print was intended to be seen at a much smaller magnification so that some printing defects, present in the original, may appear with a large size poster. I have chosen to keep these defects as they are part of the charm of these lovingly handcrafted antique prints.
