Trending interior decoration & design colors of the year 2026

It's the time of year when paint companies announce the colors of the next year. For designers and interior decorators, it's important to keep up with the trends. Here's a little preview of the coming trends. 

SHERWIN-WILLIAMS: UNIVERSAL KHAKI SV 6150

Let's start with the emblematic Sherwin-WIlliams. Their choice for the color of the year 2026 is Universal Khaki SV 6150, a soft neutral beige with a slight green tint. 

This type of color is a soft earthy neutral which brings a homely feeling and pulls together a room. Pair it with any one of the colors in their recommended palettes to complement it or bring a pop of contrasting color. Tints reminiscent of duck-egg blue, dakr indigo, terracotta or butter yellow are still very much in the picture.



VALSPAR : WARM EUCALYPTUS 8004-28F

Valspar has chosen a darker tint, a grounding woodland green with cool undertones presented as a "restorative and serene" warm green Warm Eucalyptus 8004-28F

Their coordinating color palette inscludes a soft pastel duck-egg blue Degas Blue 8004-35B and a darker taupe brown Groundbreaking 8005-35F.

DUTCH BOYS: MELODIOUS IVORY 313-2DB

Dutch Boys' choice for the color of the year 2026 is a warm ivory beige with yellow undertones, MELODIOUS IVORY 313-2DB a timeless creamy shade perfect to shift the focus on your favorite pieces of art or furniture.


Coordinating colors include dark browns like OLD CHAPARRAL 402-7DB, earthy soft green CYPRESS GARDEN 424-4DB and dusty blue BLUE LAGUNA 432-5DB  as well as soft nostalgic peach NICE NECTARINE 210-4DB and butter yellow SIMPLY YELLOW 115-3DB.

 

BEHR: HIDDEN GEM

Behr has chosen a darker color, HIDDEN GEM described as "a smoky jade with an air of mystery and sophistication", which is intended as a "rich, dynamic color [that] creates spaces that feel both grounded and alive.".

Their coordinating colors include warm neutrals, vibrant accents, soft pastels and cool mid-tones in a trendy palette which seems close to that of the other paint companies.



DUNN EDWARDS: Midnight Garden DE5657



Dunn Edwards has chosen Midnight Garden DE5657, a "deep, muted green with earthy undertones that capture the quiet elegance of nature. ". 

Coordinated colors are mostly lighter soft pastels.

 

GLIDDEN: WARM MAHOGANY

Glidden have chosen a darker red color, Warm Mahogany, described as "a rich, grounded red that’s bold enough to draw immediate attention and reserved enough to make a timeless statement.". 

 

Coordinating colors are described as restful, promoting connection and creativity. GLiiden say "As life continues to evolve, so does our approach to color. We’re embracing hues that feel honest, personal, and just a little dreamy.". Buttery yellow, sof creams but also darkers powdery blues, greens and pink compose this palette.

LITTLE GREENE: ADVENTURER

 

British-based luxury brand Little Greene has chosen a different path with a warm plum aubergine called Adventurer. This shade is described as regal and reassuring, perfect to create atmosphere and intimacy. 

 

C2 Paint: EPERNAY

C2 Paint has chosen a soft ochre yellow named Epernay, after the French town which inspired it. A color "popular in Europe during during the Beaux-Arts and Neoclassical periods", it is intended to "bring Age-old elegance to modern spaces".


 

Coordinating colors are soft earthy pastels from the "En Terre" collection, which translates to "in the earth" in French.
